Camino by Matthew Thompson

CAMINO BOOK coverCamino is a book of photography and is the result of several past pilgrimages on the Camino de Santiago, an ancient spiritual trek across northern spain, prior to any interest in photography, and then walking the Camino again twice as a photographer. The camino is a special place, a spiritual trek, both more solitary and contemplative, yet at the same time, social and communal, and is a rare place of community in an increasingly fractured world.

The book is hard-back, with sewn binding, dust cover, 112 pages.

A Fine Pair of Shoes and Other Stories by Clare Flynn

A Fine Pair of Shoes Cover LARGE EBOOK-1A Fine Pair of Shoes and Other Stories by Clare Flynn
A Tapestry of True Tales from Then and Now

A collection of nine short stories from award-winning historical fiction author Clare Flynn.

There are five historical tales – four based on stories from her family history, and a tragic tale, A Mother’s Love, from eighteenth century Sussex. The title story, A Fine Pair of Shoes, started out with her wish to capture and embroider the bare bones of a family story, based on her paternal great-great-grandparents’ trip to The Great Exhibition of 1851.

The Proposal draws on the tragic death of Clare’s maternal grandfather, killed on the Liverpool docks in 1934 when her mother was six.

She has also branched out into contemporary fiction with four intriguing stories – modern morality tales, set in England, Paris, the USA and an island in the Indian Ocean.
“Beautifully crafted, vividly brought to life on the page” these quirky stories give an insight into human nature at its best – and its worst.

Clare FlynnClare Flynn Biography

Clare Flynn is the author of five historical novels, set in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. She is a former global marketing director and owner of a strategy consultancy. After spells living and working in London, Paris, Milan, Sydney and Brussels, she now lives on the south coast of England.

In between writing novels she loves to paint and make quilts and she can see the sea and the South Downs from her windows. As often as possible she indulges her wanderlust by travel and pretends it’s all the name of research.
Clare’s novels feature places she knows well and she does extensive research to build the period and geographic flavour of her books. A common theme to her books is displacement – people forced out of their comfortable and familiar way of life and compelled to adapt to difficult and hostile circumstances often in a distant land.

Four years later, now divorced and back in the police force, Rachel discovers that Michael is being released to a less secure step-down unit, with his freedom a likely eventuality. Unable to cope with this, she decides upon revenge, assuming a new identity to hunt him down and kill him. julie-annJA Corrigan lives in Berkshire with her husband and daughter, and a very cute dog called Harley. She enjoys running, good food and wine, but not necessarily in that order.
JA Corrigan was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. She wrote many a meandering tale as a child. They were mostly dark stories, even then.At eighteen, keen to leave her hometown and head for the dazzling lights of London, and following her love of words and history she signed up for a BA (Hons) Humanities degree, majoring in English Literature and History. Never really knowing what she wanted to do with her new degree, she worked as a waitress in Baker Street, which was possibly one of the most fun and lucrative jobs she has yet to have. She went on to teach English in Greece as well as working on a boat, managing a local Greek restaurant and coordinating airport transfers for the tourists! She loitered around in Spain for a while too.

JA decided to go back to university, completing a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. This job always had finite lifespan, but with marriage, a family, and a mortgage, changing careers is difficult. But the burning desire to write became stronger and she knew that if she didn’t have a go at writing soon, she never would.Purposefully, she visited her local WH Smiths and bought the 2010 Artists’ and Writers’ Yearbook, a snazzy notebook and some pencils. Starting off writing short stories and magazine articles, she was lucky and early on saw her work published.

Sophie Ranald 1

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sophie Ranald is the youngest of five sisters. She was born in Zimbabwe and lived in South Africa until an acute case of itchy feet brought her to London in her mid-20s. As an editor for a customer publishing agency, Sophie developed her fiction-writing skills describing holidays to places she’d never visited. In 2011, she decided to disregard all the good advice given to aspiring novelists and attempt to write full-time. After one false start, It Would Be Wrong to Steal My Sister’s Boyfriend (Wouldn’t It?) seemed to write itself. Her second, third and fourth novels followed, and a fifth is due for release in Spring 2017. Sophie also writes for magazines and online about food, fashion and running. She lives in south-east London with her amazing partner Hopi and Purrs, their adorable little cat.

Unholy Alliance by Kathleen Roland

UnholyAlliancebyKathleenRowland200A decade ago, Tori Rourke, and her cousin, Vivienne, ran from the Irish mob after witnessing a brutal murder. Tori was framed by the mob, and while she served time in prison, she worried that the killer, Seamus McGinn, had kidnapped her missing cousin.

Attorney Grady D. Fletcher, defender of the wrongly condemned, appeals Tori’s case and wins her release. Now, going by Victoria Morningstar, she runs a food truck from a seedy waterfront neighborhood, hoping to find her cousin’s kidnapper.

When Grady agrees to defend a new client, Samuel Peterson, who’s been accused of beating to death the wife of a noted professor, the evidence mounts. The professor is missing, as well as his laptop that contains data dangerous to national security.

And Seamus McGinn is back, and rumors of a massive annihilation is about to begin. As they race to assist the FBI, the bonds between Grady and Tori are about to be tested. It becomes clear Grady and Tori are falling fast for each other, but what to do about it is a different story. He’s a divorced dad who wants more time with his kid. She brings danger to his front door.

Grady has questions of his own; Is Vivienne at the center of the mob’s operation? How much will it cost Tori before she learns the truth? All Grady knows is the biggest danger is the one standing right behind you.

Unholy Alliance by Kathleen Rowland
Donahue Cousins #2

Can you imagine how you would feel after you had spent ten years in a maximum security prison for a brutal murder you had not committed? Can you imagine how you would feel about the lawyer that appealed your case and won? Can you imagine how you would feel about the person or persons who put you in prison for ten years? AND can you imagine how you would feel if one of your cousins, with you when the murder took place, disappeared?

Victoria Morningstar, once Tori Rourke – Irish mob princess, has three goals when she gets out of prison: find out what happened to her cousin Vivienne, set up her food truck and bring Seamus McGinn to justice. In her pursuit of these goals she has her past knowledge, a degree she picked up in prison and the support of her appeals attorney and his staff.

Attorney Grady Donahue Fletcher is a man driven to appeal wrong court decisions and he is good at it. He is also the divorced father of a seven year old and love-phobic. He also wants to find and put Seamus McGinn in prison.

With overlapping goals Grady and Victoria begin to work together and in so doing have some madcap, scary and other adventures. Add in a bloodhound, Halloween costumes, the FBI and both good and bad cops and you have another sometimes steamy, action-packed, fast-paced adventure in the Donahue Cousins Series.

I am looking forward to finding out who will have their story told next. Will it be Danker Donahue or someone else AND I also wonder what will happen to Vivienne.
