Traditional historical romance
When the Earl of Sothern is set upon by a young lad in the early hours, it takes minutes for him to realise that his assailant is in fact a girl of gentle birth. Intrigued, and hoping to find out why Clementina has run away, Jake puts her in the care of his grandmother.
While glad of the earl’s protection, Clementina dare not trust this dangerous rake with her secrets, until a chance encounter drives her into flight, and straight into the hands of her enemies. Will Jake’s dramatic rescue settle the matter, or will it all end in tears?
Amazon Review (UK site):
I chose five stars for this fabulous if far- fetched tale because it engaged me fully from the first page and I was looking for another feisty heroine after Mademoiselle at Arms (Another Elizabeth Bailey gorgeous romping tale). This one certainly delivers the goods and the truth is I found it impossible to put down,
What I particularly enjoyed apart from the gorgeous lively interchanges between the lovers were Ms. Bailey’s descriptions of the street scenes in Regency London. Her writing is descriptive and so full of life that you are transported to another world.
