Vancouver, WA—SpireHouse Books is proud to announce its first major launch of 2011!
This fall, SpireHouse Books published its debut original novel, Artemis Rising by Cheri Lasota, as a high-quality, enhanced e-book and will sell it both online and offline!
The book will feature an array of multimedia features including photographs, a hyperlinked glossary of terms, video, and links to external websites.
Also watch for Artemis Rising at your local coffee shop or favorite independent book store in e-book card format. Customers will be able to purchase Ms. Lasota’s novel at the cash register as a plastic card and use the redemption code on the back to easily download the book from SpireHouse’s website. Perfect for gifts, author signings, or collecting, the e-book card is an innovative way to buy and share e-books.
E-book cards offer booksellers an opportunity to sell e-books directly from their brick-and-mortar locations and gain sales currently being lost to e-books. The e-book card edition will also be offered at a much lower price than the standard edition, in an effort to encourage consumers to support brick-and-mortar sellers. Now independent publishers and even self-published authors have the opportunity to sell side by side with mainstream titles in physical bookstores. The cards also offer many types of vendors—not just booksellers—the opportunity to display and sell e-books, greatly expanding the scope in which publishers and authors can reach new audiences. Artemis Rising, by Vancouver, WA author Cheri Lasota, is a YA historical fantasy set in the Azorean Islands in the 1890s. The plot centers on a sweeping, seamless blend of two classic mythologies (the Arthurian legend of Tristan and Isolde and the Greek myth of Alpheus and Arethusa), and the lives of three young people who are fated to live out these legends in their current era.
Cheri Lasota has nearly two decades of writing and editing experience. Her editing clients include McGraw-Hill Publishing as well as dozens of individual writers. Her novel, Artemis Rising, is largely inspired by a two-year stay in the Azores Islands, Portugal. Cheri is a member of Willamette Writers, Women in Portland Publishing, and the NW Independent Editors Guild.
